Coronavirus: Our message to you

As the scale and impact of the coronavirus pandemic become clearer to us all, I want to reassure you that BWC remains open for business and to share the steps we are taking to keep our business and yours going during these difficult times.

The health and well-being of our clients, our employees and the general public is our top priority. We are following the Government’s health advice to make sure we play our part in reducing the spread of the coronavirus. We have implemented a number of actions to safeguard our people and our operations to ensure that, as far as possible, business continues as usual. This includes enhanced protection for our staff and sub-contractors; and self- isolation for those with symptoms.

Business Continuity

We are working alongside our clients to focus attention and resources on the projects and contracts already in progress. Our building material suppliers are continuing site deliveries. However certain products made in China and Italy are currently unavailable. We are working with them to find alternatives.

Tendering For New Business

Our Contracts Director and team of estimators will continue to provide quotations for new work throughout the pandemic. Please note they may not always be available for face-to-face meetings and site visits. But we have successfully arranged meetings using Skype and Facetime mobile phone video conferencing for new and existing clients.

Keeping Our Sites Open

As well as ensuring the security of materials, we are conscious of the need to maintain security and safety of labour. We have established the minimum level of personnel required to operate each of our projects safely and productively. Site workers who have completed a period of 14 day isolation after symptom exposure have returned to work. We also have enough workers to undertake a limited number of new projects – mainly those needed to achieve a critical level of completion: e.g watertightness.

Financial Security

BWC is focused on the long-term sustainability of our business. Our financial performance in 2019, which we will be reporting later this month, was excellent.  So we approach the coming months from a position of financial strength, with significant cash reserves and with the support of our banks.

We Will Beat This Pandemic Together

These are challenging times.  But I want to assure you that BWC is well prepared and will continue to provide you with the best service possible. Please do not hesitate to contact me if we can do anything to support you and your business
